West Ham eye move for Olympiakos' French left-back Arthur Masuaku

Peter O'Rourke

West Ham are ready to turn their attentions to Olympiakos left-back Arthur Masuaku as they look to bring in cover for the injured Aaron Cresswell, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

West Ham are looking for cover after first choice Cresswell was ruled out for up to four months with a knee ligament injury suffered in a preseason game last month.

The Hammers thought they had landed a replacement after agreeing a deal to sign Inter Milan defender Davide Santon on loan, but the move fell through after the former Newcastle man failed a medical.

Now manager Slaven Bilic is targeting Masuaku, who has impressed since joining Olympiakos from Valenciennes two seasons ago.

The 22-year-old helped them win the Greek title in the last two seasons and has played in the Champions League.

Olympiakos face a battle to keep hold of their best players in the wake of their shock elimination from the tournament in midweek, and West Ham are ready to test their resolve with a £6 million bid.
